Together As One
4 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. - Ephesians 4:1-5 New International Version
Believers demonstrate the truth of the Gospel by being unified in their actions. It's all about being unified. Why is unity so important? The bible says that we should love one another. We were all given the same command. How could God bring unity to a group of people that came from so many religious backgrounds? We all have had struggles of different kinds and in different ways. Our experience with struggle should create relationships where we help strengthen one another and overcome our differences. As believers, relationships give us an opportunity to help others get to know God and share the Lord with unbelievers. Doing this will bring unity, cancel out the diverse background and bring even more glory to God. We can do more together than we can separate from one another. There is strength in numbers. Unity in the church is impossible without the works of the Holy Spirit. The church is not a gathering of many different bodies, it is one body with many parts. Togetherness and unity is hard to break when that bond is solid. God desires unity!
