He Will Carry Me

 Today’s Devotion by Priscilla Everett

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, the young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength, they will soar high on wings, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:29-31 (NLT)

The prophet proclaimed the word of the Lord to the children of Israel while in captivity in Babylon. God was assuring his children that he sees them and acknowledges their struggles. The prophet further declares the sovereignty of God as well as his power to save the weary and the weak and give strength to endure to the end.

Why should we labor, live in anxiety, worry and exhaustion? When we can cast all our care on God and trust that God gives us the strength to run the difficult race of life, where everyone is weary, tired and cannot figure life out.  Our strength should come from the Lord alone as he is able to push us forward and cause us to soar high on wings like eagles. He will carry us in his arms. Let us guide against unbelief, pride and self-confidence. When we move ahead in our strength, we are bound to faint and completely fall. But having our hearts and our hopes in God, we shall be carried above all difficulties and be empowered to lay hold of the prize of our high calling in Christ. God’s arm is not too short to save or his ear too dull to hear….. Isaiah 59:1. We feel helpless and insecure when we do not accept the forgiveness of God and that his blood cleanses us from all our sins which make us  think that God is unable to deliver us from our problems. As we trust in God, believe that he is able to deliver, strengthen and renew us when we feel weary then we will begin to feel the overwhelming presence of God as he carries us on his wings.
